What design is?

Design is an English word used around the world because have a lot of applications.

Even if the word design have the restrictive origin closed to middle age, in Britain, the knowledge of design only came out to others use and understand, after the age of mercantile and navigations throw the Atlantic ocean, in 15th century. And in more specific use, after the second industrial revolution, in England, the design word received the designation to fashion the things we consume in market.

The design word will continue to be used for other propose beyond their own origin because the evolution of technology and the industrial process, throw the years in future, never stop.

There are three different origins for this word and it is used in general for 1st The British use: the projects; 2nd the German use: the Techniques; and the 3rd one the Italian origin: designation.

Define the work of the designers pass throw the origins of the word and the functions of the workers and ‘what is design?’ Define it is a very complicated job to explain, even with all books and works about its origin.

This problem of definition came from the 17th century, next to the historic mark of 2nd I.R., and it will continue for a long time if the community doesn't work to change this unhappy reality together with others professionals.

Even with the publication of new academic and historic papers, for ourselves, to explain and open the minds of the new generations, the problem will persist if we don't combine the efforts to define what is the true meaning of the word design.
